{ask the chef} pretty treats

Why don’t you make ‘pretty’ treats?

First I e-mailed her back, to make sure she wasn’t talking about my pictures (haha) and she clarified that she was referring to decorated treats. Her question was more along the lines of, ‘Why don’t you use icings and other decorative elements in your treats?’ and there is a reason I don’t.

I bake my dog treats, and share the recipes, because it’s important that I know exactly what’s in the treats I’m giving my dogs and I know you feel the same. But I also know you’re very, very busy. While beautify iced and decorated treats make wonderful pictures, I’m pretty sure no ones going to actually make them.

I want you to make my recipes and feel good about what you’re feeding your pups. Not look at pretty pictures and decided that you don’t have time to hand decorate three dozen dog treats. So I try to keep my recipes simple and easy to make. So you’ll make them! Am I on the right track with that thinking?

They may not be pretty but I hope your dog still enjoys them.

I really enjoy the recipes and my dogs REALLY enjoy the treats. Pretty or not it counts how they are made.
But you had the pretty strawberry one, too! That looks yummy even to me!
