Ingredients

  • Avocado diced and mashed
  • 2 slices Bacon crisply cooked and crumbled
  • 1 6 ounce can Tomato Paste
  • 1/4 cup Mozzarella Cheese
  • 1 cup Spelt Flour

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees fahrenheit and line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat.
  • Mix all ingredients in a large bowl until well combined.
  • Roll dough onto prepared baking sheet 1/2 inch thick.
  • Bake for 10 to 15 minutes.
  • Allow to cool and take a straight edge and score the dough horizontally and then vertically to make a grid (I used a pizza cutter). Break into pieces and refrigerate.
  • Makes 3 to 4 dozen treats.

    I have a concern about the avocado in this recpie it says on this website that dogs should not have avocado. Is that wrong?

    Thank you for your concern and I’m not sure what website you’re referring to Vanessa. I use the ASPCA as my go to resource for my ingredients and this is what they say about avocado:

    “In some dogs and cats, mild stomach upset may occur if the animal eats a significant amount of avocado flesh or peel. Ingestion of the pit can lead to obstruction in the gastrointestinal tract, which is a serious situation requiring urgent veterinary care. Avocado is sometimes included in pet foods for nutritional benefit. We would generally not expect avocado meal or oil present in commercial pet foods to pose a hazard to dogs and cats.”
