ask the chef :: how to make peanut butter

I previously mentioned that I make my own peanut butter to avoid the sugar and preservatives usually found in store bought peanut butter and several people have since asked how they can make their own peanut butter.
All you need is a food processor, peanuts and oil, once you see how easy it is you’ll never buy it from the store again!

Ingredients
2 cups Shelled Peanuts
2 tablespoons Peanut Oil (or Vegetable Oil)

Directions
Coat the peanuts in the oil, and bake them at 350 degrees for six to eight minutes, stirring the nuts every two minutes to prevent them from burning.
Once roasted put the peanuts into the food processor and grind them to a consistency of your liking.
Once finished store the peanut butter in an airtight container, the peanut butter will keep in the fridge for up to two weeks.

For chunky peanut butter
Set aside 1/2 cup of peanuts and once peanuts are ground add 1/2 cup peanuts to the food processor and process for a few more seconds.
