00:17 Tennille: Hi everyone, it’s Tennille and we’re going to be making some chicken wrapped sweet potato treats. This is a dehydrated treat that can be made using your oven or a food dehydrator, if you have one. You’ll need one to two chicken breasts, a sweet potato, two tablespoons of coconut oil, and a tablespoon of parsley. Prepare your baking sheet. Line it with parchment paper, foil or a silicon baking mat and preheat your oven to 180 degrees. Clean your chicken breasts, then carefully slice them into thin strips, removing all the fat that you can. I find the chicken is a lot easier to cut if it’s slightly frozen. Cut the sweet potatoes lengthwise into same size pieces and wrap each piece with a slice of chicken. Place the chicken wrapped sweet potatoes on your baking sheet, half an inch apart, brush them with coconut oil, and sprinkle with parsley. Dry the treats in your oven with the door slightly open to let out moisture for about three to four hours until the meat is dry in appearance and texture. If you have a food dehydrator, it can be used to dry the treats as well. Just follow the manufacturer’s instructions. It’ll take a while, but I’ll be back with you once your treats are done.

01:35 Tennille: It took a couple of hours, but our treats are done. And if your dogs are anything like mine, they’ve been sitting there the whole time wondering what is taking so long. Make sure your treats are cool before you feed them to your dogs. I ended up with about a dozen. And refrigerate any left-overs that you have. There’ll be a link to the recipe in the comments. Come back next week for another dog treat recipe. Happy baking.

01:57 Tennille: All these recipes have been carefully researched, but we cannot rule out the possibility of food intolerances. And it is essential that you speak with your veterinarian before feeding your dog any homemade treats.
