ask the chef :: refrigeration

I’d love to try all of the recipes because they look so delicious! After looking through the ‘Fruit’ recipes, I’ve noticed that most if not all are to be refrigerated. Why? Milk content? fruit? yogurt? I was looking especially for a carob type cookie. thanks.

Hello Cheryl,

Thank you so much for visiting my site and I’m glad you’re finding some recipes you like.

The reason I suggest refrigeration is because all of my treat recipe lack any preservatives to keep them fresh. Since they contain a lot of moisture leaving them out (say in a treat jar) will cause mold to grow.

If you’re not interested in keeping a treat or biscuit in your refrigerator or freezer you need to make sure they are as dry as possible. This can be done with a dehydrator, and once dry treats can some times last up to a week at room temperature in an air tight container.

I do have some carob treats that you might like:
